Lorene was raised on a farm in northeastern Kansas. She was the next to youngest of six children, and the last to survive.

She moved to Salina, Kansas where she taught school and met Charles when she was 22 years old. They married after a three month courtship and remained devoted to each other for 68 years until his passing in 2015.

They lived in more than twenty places in Kansas and Missouri before moving to Arizona where their daughter and son-in-law could care for them. Lorene was always dedicated in service to our Lord, Jesus Christ, participating in church, providing meals and visiting the sick. She is survived by her son and his wife, her daughter and her husband; five grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

Like her sisters, Lorene was creative. I think her favorite was painting, many of flowers and birds in her elder years, but she was known to paint beautiful landscapes in her younger days. She also crafted Christmas ornaments from natural materials, made some quilts and enjoyed making greeting cards in her 90's.
