After high school graduation in 1941, he enlisted in the Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, February 2, 1943, 6 ft tall and 124 lbs. He proudly served three years. A veteran of World War II, Charles landed at Utah Beach during the Normandy Invasion.
Charles married Hazel "Lorene" Emrich December 14, 1947. They settled in Wichita, Kansas, and in later years lived in Aurora, Missouri. Charles stayed in the workforce until he was 89 years old. In 2012 they moved to Prescott Valley, Arizona to be close to their daughter and family.
Charles and Lorene are the parents of a son and daughter. They had celebrated 68 years of marriage just before he passed away from Cancer. Charles is survived by his wife Lorene, their children and spouses, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
For 92 years Charles lived a meaningful life serving our Lord, Jesus Christ and caring for his family.
