Karen graduated from McGavock High School in Nashville, TN before continuing her education at Trevecca Nazarene College where she met the love of her life, Grippie Lee Lawson, Jr., whom she married immediately after graduation. Karen graduated with a Business degree, but later felt a call into ministry and continued her education at the Carolina School of Ministry. She was ordained as an elder in the Church of the Nazarene and served the Nazarene church in various positions on the South Carolina District including children's pastor, youth pastor, senior pastor, family pastor, and as the founder and director of both Hope In Christ and Community Ties compassionate ministries.
Karen is survived by her husband of 33 years, Grippie Lee Lawson, Jr.; her five children, Kathryn Marie Stuckey (Bradley), Grippie Lee Lawson, III (Alicia), Trevor Richardson Lawson (Kristen), Sean Davis Lawson and Jaylen LeeAnn Lawson; her six grandchildren Asher and Cannon Stuckey, Cade and Elouise Lawson, Carson and Ellis Lawson, her siblings Andral (Beverly) Johnson, David (Lisa) Johnson, Gina (Erik) Holt, and her beloved twin Kathryn (Richard) Warner; her husband's parents Grip and Carolyn Lawson, her sister-in-law, Elise Wisner and brother-in-law, Billy Lawson and many deeply loved nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends she considered family.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Wilma Johnson and brother-in-law Curtis Wisner.
