Dr. Wilma Lee Davis Johnson, 88, of Nashville, Tennessee, died October 8, 2020 in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Wilma Davis Johnson, was born on November 26, 1931 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to Bratton and Marie (King) Davis. She attended Rock Hill High in Rock Hill, SC. She continued her education at Winthrop in Rock Hill, SC receiving both her BS and MA Degrees there. Later, Wilma earned her Doctorate of Education at Tennessee State University.

Dr. Johnson, a tenured Professor, was retired from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tn where she was employed for 21 years. Her entire career involved teaching. She loved to see her students succeed. She was a lifelong Nazarene and member of Grace Church of the Nazarene in Nashville, TN. Wilma will always be remembered for her love of the Lord, her fierce love of her children, cooking and hosting of wonderful meals, as well as her love of missions. She held memberships in Phi Delta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. Wilma had a passion for helping women succeed in the business world. She served faithfully in the ministry of City of Refuge.

She is survived by her five children, Horace Andral Johnson, Jr. (Beverly), David T. Johnson (Lisa), Gina J. Holt (Erik), Karen J. Lawson (Grippie) and Kathryn Johnson-Warner (Ditch); grandchildren, Sam Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Erin Hunt (Preston), Ricky Holt, Katie Stuckey (Bradley), Grippie L. Lawson, III (Alicia),Trevor Lawson (Kristen), Sean Lawson, Jaylen Lawson, Grace Warner and John Warner; great-granchildren, Carson Lawson, Asher Stuckey, Grippie Lee Lawson, IV, Cannon Stuckey, Ellis Lawson, Elouise Lawson and Alfred Rodriguez; sisters, Anne Hood (Dwayne), Emily LaFave (John-deceased) , and Bobbie Deese (Wayne) as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Dr. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Horace A. Johnson and her parents, Marie (King) Davis and Bratton C. Davis, her brother Edward Delane Davis and her grandson, Matthew Clark Johnson; along with several brother and sister in laws.

Visitation will be held on October 12, 2020 from six o’clock until eight o’clock.at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 2620 Pennington Bend Road, Nashville, TN 37214. Funeral service will be held on October 13, 2020 at eleven o’clock with a one hour visitation prior to service.
