George was the youngest of four children born to Isaac and Mary Ann (Ritchie) Moose. He married Margaret A. Lippard in 1887 and they had seven children: Maargarette Genolia 'Maggie', Charles Augustus, James Arthur, William Edward, Henry Peter, Bessie Ann and Lewis Gurley.
