Funeral services for Lula McCuan, 89, of Wagoner, were held Monday, December 16, 1996, at the Abundant Life Church in Wagoner. Officiating were the Revs. Roy Brown, Mike cob and Scott Ballard.
Mrs. McCuan was born October 3, 1907, In Cherokee County to Rass and Carrie (Cochran) Akin. She died Friday, December 13, 1996, at Ross Nursing Home, Wagoner, Oklahoma. She married Roy David McCuan in 1929 and he preceded her in death on November 25, 1973. She joined the membership of the Abundant Life Church in 1933. She loved her church family and taught Sunday school and was past president of the ladies auxiliary.
Mrs. McCuan worked for years as a sales clerk in downtown Wagoner for Roy Edison, Mutzig Clothes, Carr's Appliance and Jeffers Federated. She enjoyed working in the department stores in Wagoner to help provide for her family and also to visit with Wagoner people as they came to purchase items for their family. She knew so many of them as friends. She was an example of a Christian; as she spent her time in the nursing home always give a smile.
She enjoyed the Evergreen Center with friends and her special friends, Savola and Ray Swanson. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers and one granddaughter, Gerald and Sandra's daughter, Sharon.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Gerald and Sandra McCuan of Wagoner and Jim and Carolyn McCuan of Oklahoma City; her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Charles Cannon of Wagoner; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Shipman Funeral Home and Crematory of Wagoner.
