John was the son of William Jasper b. March 3, 1818 in Hartford, Ohio County, KY and Elizabeth Hoover (Atherton) Moseley b. October 4, 1827 in Daviess County, KY. He served in Company A, 26th Infantry of Kentucky from Oct 21, 1861 to Aug 1, 1865. He was buried on April 12, 1890. John married Georgiana Moore December 18, 1867. She was born in 1847 in Hamilton County, Ohio. Their children included: Arthur Leslie Moseley, b. ca. 1869; Eddie Moseley, b. ca. 1871; Lillian Moseley, b. ca. 1873; Grace Moseley, b. ca. 1875; and Mattison R. Moseley, b. ca. 1877.
