Her maiden name is given as Fry in the Christening records of her daughters Harriet and Sallie. Some people have indicated she was a Hackensmith/Hockensmith from western PA, but I have seen no documentation to support this. It seems more likely that she was the Sarah Fry, age 15, in the 1850 Robeson Twp census who is living with Joseph & Harriet (Fry) Lacy and their child William, age 2. Harriet would have been her oldest sister, they being children of John & Hannah (Frees) Fry. John died in 1847, and Hannah is living elsewhere in Robeson Twp as a widow with the rest of her and John's children: John, Mary, Elizabeth, Samuel, Nelson, Hannah, Henry.
