"Adam Lafayette Burris
(September 6, 1916 - April 30, 2006)

Adam Lafayette Burris, 89, of Atkins died Sunday, April 30, 2006 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The son of Richard and Dora Melinda (Moore) Burris, he was born September 6, 1916 in the Buttermilk Community of Pope County. He married Inez (McGee) Burris, on February 3, 2000. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. He was the Assistant Minister of Hollman Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Bernice Mae (Roberts) Burris, Bonnie (Byrum) Burris; three sons, Edward Earl Burris, Jerry Wayne Burris, Ronnie Faye Burris and five great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Burris of Atkins; daughter, Delena Gallaher & husband Danny of Atkins; two sons, Dennis L. Burris & wife Jean of Atkins, Donald Burris & wife Cheryl of Cabot; two stepdaughters, Fay McCool & husband Vadar of Hector, Bettye Crites & husband Charles of Russellville; twenty grandchildren; six step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Darter of Kokomo, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Reverend Geno Johnston and Reverend J.C. Kinder will officiate. Burial will be at Shady Grove Cemetery at Atkins, by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be Tuesday 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
