Sarah emigrated to the Colony in 1859 with her parents and siblings. Traveling as assisted immigrants the family arrived in Port Jackson, Sidney on 6 Jan 1860 on the ship "Alfred".

Sarah married James Nolan on 26 Jun 1871 in Cooma, NSW. They had 5 (five), children, Thomas Edward, James Joseph, James J., John William, and Velinda Evelyn.
