DONALD HOOVER SR.
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Donald Hoover, 94, of Muscatine, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Trinity Muscatine Hospital.

A private family service will be held. Reverend Alice Shirley Hoover will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Muscatine City Inc.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Honor Guard of Muscatine City Inc. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Donald was born November 25, 1926, in New Sharon, the son of Eber and Elsie Mae Ackles Hoover. He married Cleo Marie Plumb, on August 14, 1948, in Newton, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 2003.

Donald was a veteran of the United States Navy serving with the USS Bremerton and during WWII. He worked hard his whole life for his family who he loved dearly. Donald retired from Iowa Electric Light and Power Company. He was a man of God, showing a strong relationship with him. Donald enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his three sons, Don Hoover Jr. and wife, Alice, of Dubuque, Richard 'Dick' Charles Hoover of Maquoketa, and James 'Jimmy' Douglas Hoover and wife, Donna, of Muscatine; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Carrie, Richard Jr., Sarah, Carolyn, Bobbie Jo, Charley and Grace; 16 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Cyril Hoover of Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo; one son, Robert Allen Hoover; one daughter, Linda Sue Hoover; his parents; and his siblings, Max, Pete, Rex, Dick, Zola, Helen, Charlie, and an infant sibling, Leatrice.
