Robert John "Bob" Lindstrom
1944 - 2021
VETERAN

Early Life: Robert "Bob" was born November 14, 1944, a son of Bailey Albert and Beth Johnsen Lindstrom, in Provo, Utah, where he grew up and graduated from Provo High School. He was introduced to Cinda by his best friend, Bert Opheikens (Cinda's brother), and they dated before he was drafted into the United States Army in 1965.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: He served in during Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967. When he got home, he then served in the Utah Army National Guard from 1967 through 1971, finishing his career as a Sergeant First Class (E-7).
On September 9, 1967, just two months after getting back from Vietnam, Bob and Cinda were married and started their family. On July 3, 1976, they were sealed together as a family for time and all eternity in the Provo Utah Temple. In 1970, Bob and Cinda bought a home together in Orem, Utah, and have lived and raised their kids in that home for the last 51 years. Vocationally, he worked at Bennett's Paint & Glass, Geneva Steel, and Alpine School District.
Spending time with their kids, 21 grandkids and 21 great grandkids was the most important thing to Bob and Cinda. They would regularly drive to barbecues, extra-curricular events, and birthday parties just to be with their family. One of their favorite things to do was spend time together at the family property up in Indianola.
The world lost one of the biggest BYU Cougar and Los Angeles Dodger fans. He would regularly attend BYU football and basketball games, and when not there in person, would be glued to the TV. An avid sports fan, he spent more than 30 years umpiring and coaching youth sports. More than anything, he coached and umpired so he could be around his kids as they participated in their activities.
Bob will be remembered for his charming personality, funny one-liners, sarcastic jokes, amazing smile and laugh. He had the heart of a little child and loved playing around with the grandkids to make them smile. He loved the holidays, especially Christmastime. For years, he and Cinda would perform the role of Mr. and Mrs. Claus for businesses and family parties all around Utah County. Everyone loved being called up to sit on Santa Claus' lap to get their Christmas gift, including their kids, grandkids, great grandkids and even new son and daughters-in-law. He had a big personality, was loved by many, and will be missed by all. Robert John "Bob" Lindstrom, of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 6:50 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021. He was 76.
