Lost to gun violence on May 4, 2021 in Suwannee, Florida

GAINESVILLE - On May 4, 2021 baseball was forever changed when it lost two of its strongest competitors. Rex Joseph Reinhart, 14, and Brody Michael Reinhart, 11 were taken from us too soon.
Rex was born in Gainesville, Florida on March 13, 2007. He was in the 8th Grade and was an honor student. He formerly attended Kanapaha Middle School and was currently enrolled in Florida Virtual School. He was an avid baseball player and played with multiple local teams including Florida Elite and Gatorball Academy, and he most recently played with the Florida Heat in Tampa, FL. His quiet determination and calm demeanor led him to much success on the baseball field. His true passion in the game was pitching. When pitching, he stood tall and was always confident on the mound. Rex loved throwing that third strike when there were two outs and two strikes on the batter. He would stroll towards the dugout to meet his teammates, even before the umpire called that third strike! Rex enjoyed hanging out with friends, playing video games, training at NUMA Speed and wearing his signature white Vans.
Brody was born in Gainesville, Florida on July 31, 2009. He was a 5th grade honor roll student at Lawton Chiles Elementary School. He too had a tremendous love for the game of baseball. He played for Florida Elite and most recently played with Gatorball Academy. On the baseball field, Brody's presence and all-out hustle motivated everyone around him. He was small, but mighty! His humorous nature and magnetic personality was infectious. His determination and drive took him far with everything that he did. Brody loved fishing and you could always find him out on the water catching all kinds of fish, some bigger than him! He caught his first sailfish this past summer, which is all he had wanted for his birthday. The highlight of his baseball years was hanging out with the Gator Baseball team, keeping the players on their toes. His presence and energy in the dugout will be forever missed. Brody enjoyed hanging out with friends, being outdoors and training at NUMA Speed.
Both Rex and Brody were able to play baseball in Cooperstown, New York in 2019 where their team finished in the Top 16 out of 104 teams from across the country. The boys also had the trip of a lifetime this past fall where they were able to attend Game 6 of the MLB World Series. They had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed being on the water riding their jet skis. In the winter, they loved to snow ski and snowboard. They also enjoyed good food and particularly loved their sushi! They always looked forward to attending Gator sporting events with their friends and family and were regulars at Gator baseball and football games. If you couldn't find them on the baseball field, or near the water, you could hear their competitive nature as they played a game of wiffle ball in their backyard. As brothers, they pushed each other so much and planned off-season strategies to improve their game. The bond these brothers shared is forever and all Rex wanted was to play on the same team with Brody again one day.
They are survived by their loving and dedicated mother Minde Prince Reinhart, maternal grandparents Mike and Tammy Prince, (their Gigi and Pop), paternal grandmother Irenea Reinhart, uncle Phillip Prince (Lauren), uncle Michael Prince (Alma), great aunt Betty Dunn (Hugh), great uncle Lester "Sandy" Sanders (Debra), cousins Gareth and Jaime Prince, many extended family members, their beloved dog Ellis, and many beloved teammates and good friends. Rex and Brody were preceded in death by their Great Grandparents Betty ("Will") and Lester ("Pop") Sanders.
Rex and Brody touched so many hearts during their short, memorable lives. They cherished life and strived to be the best at everything they did! They were a baseball coach's dream, shared a special bond with their teammates, and are loved by so many! They are leaving behind a legacy that will never be forgotten!

Although they are no longer with us, their spirit and compassion will continue to live through us and remind us daily to #playlikebrody and #pitchlikerex. We will FOREVER have angels in the outfield!
