Reimer Harry Maassen, son of Sophia Paustian and John Maassen, was born February 21 1904 in Lincoln township, Harlan, Iowa. He died April 8, 1955 from a heart attach at his home in Lincoln township where he had lived all his life.
He was married February 22, 1928 to Wilma Peters at Avoca, Iowa. Four children were born to this marriage, all girls, namely Jean, Joyce Lavon, Marilyn and Lou Ann.
He was a longtime member of the Congregational church in Harlan, and had been a farmer all his life.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs Jean Schroeder of Atlantic, Marilyn, a student nurse in Omaha, Lou Ann at home. Also two granddaughters, Judy Ann and Nancy Lou Schroeder, two sisters, Mrs Adolph Wultman and Mrs Herman Woltman, both of Avoca. Preceding him in death was one daughter, Joyce Lavon and his parents.
Funeral services were held at the Pauley funeral home Monday, April 11 with the Rev. John Paul Mages in charge.
Pallbearers were Kennth Comrad, Alvin Courad, Willis Myrtue, Ed Brinker, A. Christensen and Harry Gibson.
Burial was in the Harlan cemetery.
