Marilyn Joyce Rumley, 86, of Port Huron, died Friday, January 29, 2021.

She was born December 6, 1934 in Marysville to the late Richard E. and Mary Rose. She married James Patrick Rumley on January 10, 1959 in Lakeport. He died April 14, 2020 after they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Marilyn graduated from Marysville High School in 1954 and attended Port Huron Business College and then worked for E.B. Eddy Paper company for over 20 years. She was the past President of the Professional Secretaries Association and was named Secretary of the Year in 1987. Marilyn was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society, and in her younger years served as a Girl Scout leader and taught religious education. She loved helping people and worked often with the Salvation Army. Marilyn enjoyed quilting and traveling, especially with her husband to his yearly Navy reunions.

She is survived by three children, Richard Rumley, Diane Rumley and Thomas (Amberly) Rumley; grandson, James P. Rumley II (fiancée Chelsea Greer); granddaughter, Andrea Rumley; sisters-in-law, Patricia Rose, Dr. Jacqueline Jellinek and Mary Rumley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Shirlie Ellis, Phyllis Simpson and Eleanor Walker; and two brothers, Gerald "Bud" Rose and Arnold Rose.

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A limited number of people will be allowed in at a time. Please wear a mask for the comfort and safety of others.

A Funeral Mass will be announced in June.

Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery, Clyde Township.
