Gerald "Bud" Richard Rose, age 86 years 9 months 13 days, of Emmett Township, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2014. He was born April 5, 1927 in Port Huron to the late Richard and Mary Catherine Rose.

His marriage to Dorothy Jean Pattillo was May 7, 1949 at First United Methodist Church in Port Huron. Dorothy passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011.

Following his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Bud served aboard the USS Jason in the Pacific theater. Bud then worked for the Detroit Edison Company until retiring in 1988.

He was a longtime and faithful member of the Church of Believers in Yale. Bud loved to serve, alongside his wife of 62 years, in assisting missionaries abroad, as well as community and neighbors alike.

Bud also enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, flying airplanes, motorcycling, snowmobiling, woodworking, traveling and camping.

He was a member of American Legion Post# 320 and the Blue Water Sportsman Association.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale, on Monday, January 27, 2014, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a service of remembrance at 6:00 p.m. led by a grandson-in-law Pastor Josiah Travis.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at St. Martin Lutheran Church, 805 Chestnut St., Port Huron with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Mr. Phil LaGore, pastor of Church of Believers, Yale, will officiate.

Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery, Clyde.

Memorials are suggested to "Wounded Warrior Project".
