Mary was born May 28, 1925, in Holy Cross, Kentucky, the daughter of Clarence and Veronica Green Mattingly.
She graduated from Holy Cross High School at the age of 17. She married Aaron Isaac Aldridge, on March 10, 1943. They were married until his death on January 24, 1998. She married Garnett Ray Stevens, a Korean War veteran, on May 15, 1999. They were married until his death on July 5, 2018. She called him her soul mate and social butterfly. Mary worked at Morris Lincoln Nursing Home for 29 years as activity director. Mary was very involved at the Rock Falls VFW and served on the Auxiliary. Mary loved the social life and dancing.
She is survived by five children, Joyce Anderson, Ruth Mussleman, David Aldridge, Rose Cooper and Richard Aldridge; five step children, Barbara Beswick, Garnett Stevens, Jr., Ronnie Stevens, Lisa Vanderlaan and Theresa Stevens; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; two sons, Charles Aldridge and Pastor Joe Aldridge; three great-grandchildren; her parents and six siblings.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 10th, 2021 from 11:00 AM - Noon at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. A private funeral will follow with Pastor Jason Borton of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
