Henry A. Hahn, a dealer in leather and hides, and one of Frederick City leading business men, was born in Hanover, German. He is a son of Adolph and Caroline.
Adolph Hahn is a native of Germany. He emigrated to the United States, landing at Baltimore, MD., in July 1855. He immediately located in Frederick City, where he followed the occupation of a tanner. The name of his wife was Caroline, who was Caroline, who was deceased. They were the parents of seven children , five of whom attained maturity: (1.) Henry A. Hahn, married Anna Mary Zimmerman, daughter of William H. Zimmerman; (2.) Charles N. Hahn; (3.) Annie C. Hahn; (4.) William A. Hahn; (5.) Clara C. Hahn the widow of Harry Blackstone.

Henry A. Hahn was only three years of age when his parents located in Frederick City. At the age of sixteen, in 1868, he began to learn the currier's trade of leather finisher in the tan yards of George K. Byerly. He remained employed in this tannery for a period of thirty-six years. In 1904, Mr. Hahn embarked in the leather and hide business on his own account. Henry was married to Anna Mary Zimmerman, a daughter of William H. Zimmerman, of Frederick City. The were the parents of three children, two of which were still living, (1.) Sadie C. Hahn and (2.) Bessie V. Hahn.
