Born in Austin, Texas she was the daughter of Dwight and Marguerite Farr. She attended Austin High School, Cottey College and The University of Texas at Austin where she ultimately earned her Master's Degree in Library Science. She retired from a career in education in 1998. Her career included being an English teacher, a drama director, and a librarian.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Smithville. She was also a member of PEO, Eastern Star, Daughter's of the Nile, American Legion Women's Auxillary, and Romance Writers of America.
She was an avid reader and writer. She also loved to travel and experience new places. In her younger years she lived and worked abroad for a while. In her retirement years she always had a book in her hand or her fingers on a keyboard. She was even a published author. You could also find her with her fingers daintily wrapped around a wine glass or a good scotch and water.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank and two of their children, Debra and David. As well as her sister, Jane, and her brother Dwight.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Marrs Jones Funeral Home. The funeral home is located at 110 American Legion Road in Smithville, Texas.
Services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church with burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery. The church is located at 400 Olive Street in Smithville, Texas.
