Judy Vandiver Brown, of Joplin, MO, went to be with her Lord April 28, 2021.
Judy was raised and attended school in Carthage, MO, where she graduated from Carthage High school in 1960. She then graduated from Hillcrest Medical Center school in Tulsa, OK, in 1963. Following graduation she worked as a Registered Nurse for Texaco Oil Refinery in Tulsa, as an industrial nurse. After returning to the Joplin area in 1970, she worked for Carl Junction schools as a school nurse for 17 years. Prior to her retirement in 2000 she worked 10 years as a certified case management nurse in the workman's compensation area.
She was an active volunteer in both her church and the community. She was a past member of the National Educator Association, the Association of Missouri School Nurses, past leader of her children's 4-H-Asbury, Waco PTA, Big Bucks Investment Club of Joplin. She was a large fundraiser in Carl Junction schools and Project Graduation for her daughters safe graduation nights. She was active organizing reunions for her 1960 Carthage High graduating class and a member of Joplin Woman's Club.
She has many good friends in the area as well as in Texas. They were very important in her life.
Her husband, Charles Montgomery, preceded her in death, November 22, 2009.
She married James L. Brown February 14, 2011 in Texas and he survives at the home.
Also surviving is her two daughters, Kelli Frazier of Webb City, Kristi Headen of Webb City, as well as five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Helen Vandiver of Joplin, and her sister Valaree Larson of Joplin.
She was a member of First Methodist Church of Joplin and active in her Sunday school class as well as many Bible studies.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 4th and Byers, Joplin. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until service time Monday at the church.
