Tom was the proud Founder, Director, and Pastor of the Manna Mission Outreach Ministries. He started the mission in 1988 and under his leadership the Mission has been serving the community and the Lord ever since. He organized and participated in many ministries including his recent work in the underserved communities in the Appalachian Mountains where he provided food and clothing. Besides his ministries, Tom worked as a sign painter for most of his life.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #230. As a child he attended the Hindustan Church in Martinsville. He married Linda Ladigo on March 25, 2001. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time in the mountains and cherished time with his family and those he considered family. He loved old houses and antiques.
He leaves behind his loving family and friends including his wife, Linda Tackett of Martinsville; sons, Bill (wife, Justina) Tackett of Port Charlotte, FL, Jason Tackett of Martinsville, Jeremy Tackett of Martinsville, Jarrod (wife, Melody) Nees of Coal City, Indiana, Jake Neese of Brazil, Indiana, and Christopher (wife, Jayme) Campbell of Bloomington; brother, David (wife, Marge) Miller of Dunnellon, Florida; step-sons, Danny Malone of Martinsville, William "Buck" (wife, Misty) Ladigo of Martinsville, and Jonathan Ladigo of Martinsville; 35 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert "Pup" and Ruth; son, Joshua David Tackett; nephew, David Voiles; and grandson, Aaron Malone.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the chapel at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. A service celebrating Tom's life will begin at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the funeral home with an hour of visiting prior. Following a private graveside service, Tom will be laid to rest in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
Contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with final expenses.
