Betty Sue Bowling was born September 4, 1933, in Monroe, WV, to the late Hurdle and Eva England.

After living a long life for 87 years, she crossed over peacefully on April 23, 2021, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was married to SFC William Ryder Bowling for 50 years, who preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Bowling; grandson Rocky Wilson; brothers, Charles England, Gene England, Joe England; sisters, Rose Weed and Patricia Shoemaker.

Betty leaves to cherish her memories of life four daughters, Carol Weed (Ronald), Vickie Amessa (Adrian), Mildred Bowling, and Dianna Campbell (Chaz); eight grandchildren, Wendy Willard, John Weed, Crystal Todd, Denton Melvin, Megan Shuttler, Jayce Bowling, Lathan Campbell, and Skyler Bowling; six great-grandchildren, William Wood, Jerica Wood, Savannah Weed, Kane Harris, Dustin Weed, and Madison Heye; brothers, Leroy England, Randolph England, and Larry England; sisters, Shirley McCall and Brenda Dishman; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private graveside will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021, at Iredell Memorial Gardens officiated by the Rev. Tim Stutts. A receiving of friends will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 25 at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Face masks and social distancing protocols are still being observed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Purple Heart Homes, PO Box 5535, Statesville, NC 28687. Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Bowling and her family.
