Laura Faye (Beene) Harris was born February 16, 1938, to Laura Rebecca and Thurman Otto Beene in Gladewater, Texas. When Laura was 3 years old the family moved to Oklahoma City where she lived, attending school and graduating from Capitol Hill High School in May of 1956. It was during the summer before her senior year she met Wilbur "Will" Harris, whom she described as "the best thing that ever happened to her." Following Laura's graduation, the couple married on September 1, 1956.

The family grew in 1960 when Daniel Nile was born, followed by Sondra DeAnn in 1962, Michael Owen born in 1965, and Micki Lou was born in 1968. Laura worked at Tinker Field in the early years of motherhood. The family moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma in 1968.

In 1974, Will and Laura opened 89'er Lawn and Leisure, a John Deere dealership which expanded in 1976, becoming 89'er Equipment Company when they added Ford tractor lines. They operated the company until 1985 when they both went to work at the Federal Aviation Administration. Laura joined Will in retirement in 1998 when she became unable to work any longer following a work accident.

Laura loved Jesus and taught her children, as well as other children during years spent teaching Bible School and Sunday School at Lakeview Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma. In her spare time, Laura enjoyed gardening, working outdoors, playing with her children, and jig saw puzzles. She loved playing Scrabble, having weekly games with Sondra, her granddaughter, Bethany, and great grandsons Bradley and Colton. She loved traveling and loved going anywhere Will went. It wasn't long before Hawaii became their favorite vacation spot, visiting both Oahu and Maui every year as long as their health allowed.

Laura's heart truly broke on February 9, 2015, when Will passed away following a brief battle with illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, step-father, John J. McCornack, and brother, Thurman Beene. Laura is survived by uncle, Birch Kinney of Texas, her sister, Peggy Bateman, of Branson, Missouri, sons Danny Harris of Edmond, and Michael Harris and wife, Robyn of OKC, daughters, Sondra and husband Randy Danner of Crescent, and Micki Harris and Wendee Gozansky of Aurora, Colorado. Laura leaves behind grandchildren Merressia Summers of Texas, Nicholas Harris and Samantha of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bethany Walls and Ronny of Guthrie, and Andrew Harris and Patrick Williamson of Austin, Texas. Her great grandchildren include Bradley and Colton Walls, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Cheyenne and Christian Summers of Texas, and Marcus and Liam Meyer of Charlotte, North Carolina. She loved and was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, countless friends, including Kellie Molone whom she described as her "bench buddy', and fellow members of the Challengers Sunday School Class at First Christian Church in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29th at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 at First Christian Church in Edmond, OK with interment to follow.
