Alice Barker, 89, formerly of Georgetown, a loving daughter, wife, mother and friend passed from this earth on Friday, October 26, 2007.

Alice was born on May 13, 1918 in Concho County, Texas to Joe and Maggie Stewart. She married Sebern Barker on November 23, 1945 in Burnet, Texas. Sebern preceded her in death in 1992. They were fortunate to have had 46 years together.

Services were held at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel on October 30, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Jack Vick officiating. A private interment followed the funeral at the IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown.

Alice was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as The Georgetown Garden Club and a former Toast Mistress in San Antonio. She supported her husband through 14 years as a County Commissioner in Williamson County and later a variety of businesses in the central Texas area before they retired in 1975. Alice will be long remembered for her love of life, her incredible pies, and her devotion to her family.

She is survived by her four daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Mike Anderson of Austin, Texas; Carolyn Sue and John Laskowski of Bulverde, Texas; Jeanne and Elroy Jonas of New Braunfels, Texas; Rosemary and Roland Goertz of Waco, Texas; A sister, Mary Lou Smyth of Belton, Texas along with eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jim Hafer, Marshall Hallmark, John David Laskowski, Steven Laskowski, Andy Lombardi and Michael Magee. The family wishes to thank Providence Hospice (Waco), especially her nurse, Elaine and her most dedicated personal caregiver, Lucy Harper. The family wishes to thank Jack and Jackie Vick for all the many years of love and friendship they have shown our mother.
