Janice Almacy Moore, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend, was peacefully welcomed into heaven on Monday, April 19, 2021 from her daughter and son-in-law's home in Reisterstown, MD. She was 80. Janice was born in Sewickley on July 26, 1940, one of two daughters of the late Theodore S. and Lena (Aiello) Almacy. On March 2, 2015, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, James K. Moore. Jan was the loving and caring mother and mother-in-law of Jody and Patrick O'Grady; cherished grandmother of Cameron and Connor; beloved sister of Linda Fleck; also well-loved by numerous cousins that were as close as siblings; and a beloved aunt to many. Janice was all about family and she loved so deeply and especially loved spoiling her grandsons. Janice was a 1958 graduate of Moon Area High School. After Jim and Jan married on September 24, 1960, they made their home on Neville Island while she worked at 1st Federal and Union National Banks. Both she and Jim enjoyed each other's company and spent decades of summers at Canadohta Lake and many winters in Myrtle Beach. Jan was active, energetic, a joiner, and a delight to be around. She was a former member of ISDA, 500 Club, Friday Night Gang, Saturday Night Gang, and the Democratic Women's Club of Neville Island. She also was a deacon and faithful member of the Presbyterian Church of Coraopolis. Among her many hobbies, she participated in Bingo, baking, casino gaming and playing the lottery. Jan, a life-long educator, loved "her Cornell Students", was the secretary to the Librarian for Cornell School District, retiring in 2002. Even through our sadness, we invite you to Celebrate this wonderful lady's life with her Service on Saturday, May 8 th at 11:30 AM followed by a luncheon at the Presbyterian Church of Coraopolis with Rev. Dr. Thomas Petrosky officiating. Burial will be private at Coraopolis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the Presbyterian Church of Coraopolis, 1201 Fifth Ave., Coraopolis, PA 15108.
