Mrs. Evelyn Smith Bayer, 89, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 13, 2020. She was a native of Jacksonville and daughter of the late Jesse Lee & Myrtle Gilley Smith.

Evelyn was a longtime member of the Church of God and had been very devoted and faithful for many years. On November 1, 1947, she married Adam James Bayer, Jr. and they would have celebrated 73 years in November.

Preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters: Catherine Prescott and Inez Roberts and 4 brothers: Lewis Smith, Melvin Smith, Harold Smith & Edwin Smith.

Surviving family include 2 daughters: Judy Sweat and Carol (Mason) Logan; 1 granddaughter: Kimberlee Whiting; 1 great granddaughter: Morgan D. Maxey and 1 brother: Jimmy (Alecia) Smith.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Sister Sarah Team, officiating. We will gather in Procession Lane # 1. Peeples Family Funeral Homes is serving the Bayer Family.
