On Monday morning, October 11, 1926, the death angel visited among us and taken away our loving mother, Elnora Tucker (nee Elnora Dowell). She was 55 years 2 months and 8 days old. She professed faith in Christ in early girlhood and united with the Baptist Church. She was married to P. A. Tucker December 19, 1889. To this union were born ten children, five boys and five girls, one preceding her to the glory land in infancy while the other nine survive her. Besides the nine children she leaves a husband, six sisters and two brothers and a host of friends to mourn her loss. She bore her sufferings so patiently but was so anxious to go home to meet her savior.

In loving memory of my dear mother, Nora Tucker who departed this life Monday morning, October 11, 1926, after an illness of one week and two days of catarrh of the stomach. She was fifty five years, two months and eight days old when she died. She leaves a husband and nine children to mourn her loss. It was a sad morning when the death angel made its visit and bore the spirit of our precious mother away. She is not dead but just asleep. There is a vacant place in our home that can never be filled; for what is home without mother? She was bright and cheerful, always looking on the sunny side of life and this being her disposition she won friends wherever she went. It is so sad to have to give up dear mother, but we feel that our loss is sweet mother's gain, in the bright beyond. Yes, she has gone where Jesus is. No more pain, no more suffering, no more heartaches for our dear mother, Oh, dear mother, how we miss you, and just to think we can never see your sweet face on earth, but we hope to see you in that sweet home not made with human hands. She was laid to rest in the Edgar Cemetery, where many friends and relatives witnessed her final resting place here on earth. You are not forgotten dear mother, or shall you ever be as long as life and memory last. We shall remember thee.

Her loving daughter, Elsie Mattingly
