William Hamilton Pritchard was born to Aquilla & Martha Jane 'Patsy' (Weatherly) Pritchard. He was the eighth of fourteen children. William served in the Civil War at the same time as his brothers, Samuel Jobe, James Averse and Reason/Rezin Asberry Pritchard in Missouri. William served as a Confederate Soldier in Company C under Capt White in the Regiment of Missouri (10th Reg. Cav) and in Gen. Marmaduke's Brigade and served until the end of the war.
William Hamilton Pritchard marred Amanda Letitia Johnson March 22, 1864 in Chicksaw Nation, Oklahoma. The first few years of their marriage they settled in Hill Co., Texas and by about 1878, they are in Shackelford County. To their union 8 children are born. They were: Martha Irene, Lou Ellen, John W., Minnie E., Fannie, Lydia, Louis Edward, and Dee Pritchard. They lived on land originally owned by Amanda's father, Dr. J. H. Johnson.
