Fanny was born in Poland but moved to Berlin, Germany, with her family in 1930. They returned to Poland shortly before the start of World War II and in 1940 fled Europe via Italy, Morocco, Spain and Portugal . They arrived in New York in January 1941 and within a few years they settled in Forest Hills, Queens.
Fanny and Jack married in 1947. They raised their four children -- two sons and two daughters -- on Long Island and later retired to Florida.
Fanny told the story of her escape from Europe in a memoir published by Yad Vashem in 2015 -- Remembering Regina: My Journey to Freedom.
