He was preceded in death by his mother and father, both sets of grandparents and two of his best friends, Art Powell and Scott Titchener. He is survived by his two sisters; brother and step daughter. Dan Lived his younger years in Islip Long Island before the family moved to McDonough in 1964. Dan graduated from Oxford Academy high school in 1973, After graduation he was employed at Raymond Corporation, before changing careers and working for U.S. Handling in Johnson City, NY.
Dan built his own home in the Buckley Hollow, Oxford, NY, over an embankment, even though the other side of the road was more suitable. He was completely off the grid, and very proud of this accomplishment.
In 2002, Dan moved to Kingsport, Tennessee. He worked as a forklift technician for Lilly Company until his retirement.
Even though his birthday was on March 16 he always celebrated it on March 17, St. Patrick's Day. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. He shared his birthday with all who celebrated St. Patrick's Day and celebrate he did! He didn't need an excuse to party and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was always the life of any party he attended. Anyone who knew Dan, knew his infectious laugh and knew that if he was laughing things could not be that bad. One of his favorite sayings was "Trust Me!" and that's when you knew you were in trouble.
At Dan's Request there were no calling hours, the funeral will be private. Burial will take place at the Union Cemetery in McDonough, NY at a later date.
