Melanie Smith, of Anderson passed away on Oct. 7, 2018.
Born on March 11, 1947, she was the daughter of Ruth Thomas Stephenson and Kemmon D. Jones.
A graduate of Madison Heights High School in 1965, Melanie worked for General Motors. She also was the owner and operator of the Spa Restaurant and Mel's Diner.
She is survived by sons, Richard D. Smith and Jason T. Smith; sisters, Sheila (Gordon) Ball, Stephanie (Alan) Henson and Valerie (Lee) Reynolds; brother, Paul (Jodi) Jones; daughter-in-law, Courtney Contos; grandchildren, Jacob (Amanda) Smith, Aidan Contos Smith and Joshua Smith; cousin, Belita Renner Hardwick; and great-granddaughter, Aurora Smith.
Melanie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Kemmon Jones, Sammy Jones and Dennis Yohe. Also, her beloved grandparents, Anna Jones, Maude Thomas and Kern Thomas; aunt, Ruth Townsend; and uncle, Earl Townsend.
Melanie was full of life; she loved her family fiercely and adored animals.
Services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Brown- Butz- Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, with Pastor Jay Harvey officiating.
