Funeral services for the late Mrs. A.L. Bixby were held Thursday, April 1st at 1:00 o'clock from the residence and were in charge of the Rev. J.W. Babcock, pastor of the Christian church. Mrs. F.A. Mershon and Mrs. Andrews sang "Just as I Am," which Mrs. Bixby requested, "Some Blessed Day" and Saved by Grace." The pall bearers were friends of the deceased and were Mrs. Dan Hoffman, Miss Clara Myers, Mrs. Sam Kimrey, Mrs. Birdie Herring, Mrs. Roy Sargent and Mrs. John Hiles. The remains were laid to rest in the Boone cemetery.
Margaret Caldwell was born in Lanarkshire, Russ Hall Scotland, Sept. 2, 1865, died March 30, 1915, at the age of 49 years, 4 months and 28 days. She came to this country with her parents when five and half years old. All her life but twelve years has been spent in Boone County. She was united in marriage to John A.L. Bixby, August 6, 1882.
There were born to this union eight children, six of whom survive her and two have preceded her to the better world. Those living are Grace Simbo of Percy, Iowa; Lillie Edgerton, Dave, John, Marjorie and Russell all of Boone. All were present at the funeral except the daughter Grace and illness prevented her from being present.
The deceased was baptized into Christ and united with the Christian church in her early life. She has been a noble Christian mother whose influence has been on the side of good. Besides the six children, she leaves behind a husband, mother, four grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers and a host of other relative and friends to mourn her departure.
