Travel author. The eldest brother of James Bond writer, Ian Fleming, he was educated at Eton and Oxford. After working in Wall Street during the finanicial crash of 1929 he wrote his first travel book "Brazilian Adventure" (1933) which became popular as a Book of the Month Club edition. Other following books were "One's Company" (1934) and "News from Tartary" (1936), both being selected by the Book Society. At least five other books followed. As a Special Correspondent for "The Times", of London, he covered activities in Manchuria, China, World War Two in Normandy, Greece and Burma. He contributed under the pen name Strix to the "Spectator". His book "Operation Sea Lion" (1957) was an account of Hitler's projected invasion of England. He was awarded an O.B.E. and was High Sheriff of Oxfordshire. In 1935 he married the actress Celia Johnson.
