NORMA MARTIN
December 4, 1950 - March 30, 2021

Norma Jean Martin (nee Michaels), 70, passed away peacefully at her home in Bakersfield surrounded by her family on March 30th after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Norma was born on December 4th, 1950 in Bakersfield and moved with her family to Fresno soon after her birth. She attended Roosevelt High School where she met her husband of 50 years. After graduating high school, she worked at Gottschalks arranging their window displays. She married her high school sweetheart in 1971 and they had two daughters. They enjoyed many wonderful family road trips and vacations together.

Norma was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bakersfield. She enjoyed volunteering at the Bakersfield Pregnancy Center and was involved in Links for Life. Her favorite place to spend time was California's central coast. She loved being there every summer, making unforgettable memories with her family.

Norma was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Michaels, father Norman Michaels, and mother Betty Michaels. She is survived by her loving husband Edward Martin, daughter Melissa (Ryan) Baldwin, daughter Allison (Brandon) Olds, granddaughter Lily Baldwin and grandson Lane Olds. Norma's passing will touch many lives and she will be greatly missed. She was a loving wife, mother, Grandma, and friend. She was a light in many lives and leaves a space that cannot be filled.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials in Norma's honor be made to The Bakersfield Pregnancy Center or Hoffman Hospice. Special thanks to the staff at Hoffman Hospice for their exceptional care and for their special ability to make an incredibly hard time easier to bear for the family.

"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you" - John 14:2
