From his wife's Loyalist claim for reimbursement (state of Connecticut):
Lemuel Bradley of New Haven, innkeeper. Memorial by his widow Esther of Kingston, New Brunswick, 1786. Her husband left home in March 1778 to join the Army at Long Island where he engaged in the boat service. He was twice captured and imprisoned (at Tanfield and Philadelphia). He had one finger shot off and was irrevocably disabled.
In 1779, she and her children joined him at Long Island and in April 1783 they embarked for Nova Scotia. He died just before arriving.
Claim filed for lands in Carmel and North Haven, Connecticut and loss of income. (13/80/45-47)
[Note: Supposedly Esther arrived in New Brunswick with three children.]
