Jonathan Albert Hays was a son of Warren Hays and Clarissa Stark. Additionally,Jonathan owned a farm near Lilly, Tazewell County, Illinois. He also served as a wagoner in Company F, 88th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. Jonathan Hays was first married to Ruth Pettyjohn on February 9, 1837 in Brown County, OH. Jonathan and Ruth had the following children: Warren E., John Pettyjohn, Jessie (died very young), James Josiah, Theodore Hugh, Abiel, Thomas J., Nancy Jane, and Sarah Clarissa. Jonathan married secondly to Barbara Gieg on October 9, 1888 in Tazewell County, Illinois after his first wife Ruth died in December, 1887. No children were born to Jonathan and Barbara.

Jonathan was my great-great-great-great grandfather.
