Joseph M. Delva, 88, Goodhue, Dies
GOODHUE -- Joseph M. Delva, 88, a longtime Bellechester-area farmer and native of Wabasha county died Tuesday during open heart surgery at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Delva was born Sept. 10, 1892 in Wabasha County, and married Susan Peters on Sept. 16, 1918 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bellechester. He spent his life farming in the Bellechester area. Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. James (Marcella) Befort of Goodhue, two brothers, John of Bellechester and Peter of Mazeppa, and a sister, Mrs. Clara Strauss of Lake City. Four sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bellechester with the Rev. Paul Palmitessa officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Joseph M. Delva home, Route 1 Goodhue Thursday evening and Friday afternoon and evening. Ferrin-Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
