Mary Frances Carter Zimmerman, 98, of Roanoke County, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021.

She was born on July 4, 1922, in Salem, Virginia to the late S. Lewis Carter and Dora L. Carter.

Mary Frances was also preceded in death by her husband, William B. "Dick" Zimmerman; her brothers, Edward L. Carter and Hugh Lawson Carter; and her sister, Nellie May Carter.

She is survived by her beloved son, Robert Wesley "Bob" Zimmerman of Roanoke; her brother, Robert L. Carter and his wife, Dorothy, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; her nieces, Ann Carter, Brenda Carter Roberts, and Marilyn Carter Bellis; her nephew, David Carter; and special friends, Nadine C. Lowe, Janice Ellis, and Nancy English.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice and her caregiver and friend, Dominique Banks.

The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Oakey's South Chapel with burial to follow at East Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
