Mrs. Katie K. Smith, age 74 of Kennard, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007 in Lufkin Woodlands Heights Hospital. Mrs. Smith was born July 28, 1932 in Houston County and had lived in this area most of her lifetime. Mrs. Smith was a housewife and had also worked at Exxon and Brown and Goolsby Hospital. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Pearsons Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband J. R. "Jack" Smith, of Kennard; sons John Smith and wife Mae, of Lufkin, Doug Smith and wife Shelly, of Trinity; grandchildren Chad Smith, Chris Smith, Kenny Smith and Joel Smith; great-grandchildren Ryan and Kelsey, Kloe and Kalista; nieces and nephew Debbie, Kim and Bubba; numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her parents Johnny and Tressie Knox; and sister Alma Callaway.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Katie K. Smith were held Tuesday, July 10, at 10:00 a.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Terry Gibson officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park.
