Funeral services for Dr. Samuel Butts, 76, Daytona Beach, who passed on April 4, 2021 will be 2PM, Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Master's Domain COGIC with Superintendent Richard A. Butts, House of Prayer, Praise & Power COGIC, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. CDC GUIDANCE - REQUIRES MASK AND SOCIAL DISTANCING. Calling hours will be from 5-7PM Friday, April 9, at RJ Gainous Funeral Home, Inc.
Dr. Samuel Butts was born on April 10, 1944 in Winter Park, FL to Bishop Eddie Butts, Sr. and Mrs. Jestine Butts. He was a graduate of the old Campbell High School, attended Bethune-Cookman College and Daytona Beach Community College. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
Dr. Butts was a scientist, an inventor, a professional musician, an amateur archaeologist, anthropologist, historian, and former Director of the Community Outreach Center. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kiana Butts.
He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Lovely M. Butts; children: Tony J. Johnson, Helen R., Heather S., Samuel Jr., Ashley and Isaac H.; siblings: Dorcas Morris, Jestine Long (Turline), Johnnie Cleveland, Bishop George Butts (Cathy) and Mother Willie Mae Butts; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
