Peggy Copeland Hemphill, 77, passed away on April 7, 2021.
She was born in Nansemond Co., Virginia the daughter of the late Randolph Turner "Plutie" Copeland and Thelma Elaine Turner Copeland.
Peggy is predeceased by her former husband, Robert X. Vail.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 20+ years, Mel Hemphill; son, Nathan "Terry" Lewis, Jr. (Kattrell), stepson, Kevin J. Hemphill (Stephanie); grandchild, Michael A. Lewis; great-grandchild, Blake A. Lewis; sister, Linda C. Fletcher (John), brother, Randy T. Copeland (Mary Ellen); niece, Kaitlyn Fletcher; and nephew, Chris Fletcher.
The family would like to thank Riverside Cancer Center and Riverside Hospice Care for the excellent care of Peggy.
A funeral will be held Monday, April 12, 2021, at Suffolk Christian Church, 216 N. Main Street, Suffolk, VA 23434 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, April 11, 2021, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPCA at ascpa.org or the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
