Filled with a life of great memories and family love, Albert "Red" Shuemate, age 77 of Kenosha passed away on Friday, October 26, 2007. He died at United Hospital System – Kenosha Campus.

Born on November 16, 1929 in Minerva, Texas he was the son of the late James and Mary (Pressley) Shuemate. A graduate of Yoe High School in Cameron, TX, Red also attended UW-Milwaukee.

Red proudly served our country with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948; and then joined the Marine Reserves. He was called back to active duty during the Korean War from 1950 to 1951.

On August 14, 1948 in Grace Evangelical Reformed Church in Wausau he married his beautiful bride, Ellen Davies. Together, they raised three incredible children.

Professionally, Red began his career as a Tool and Cutter Grinder with Nash Kelvinator/A.M.C. While at A.M.C. Red served as a Chief Steward with U.A.W. Local #72. In 1966, Red became employed at Snap-On Tools Corp., retiring in 1985 due to a disability.

Personally, his life was rich in blessings. He was a 50 year member of Wesley United Methodist Church where he organized the first Boy Scout Troup and served as its Scout Master. He also served the church as a Trustee. Additionally, Red was a member of the Machinists Lodge #34.

Sports and family filled his heart with joy. As a young man Red loved to play fast-pitch softball. His team, Courtesy Auto Salvage, even won a city championship! Needless to say, he was a huge fan of baseball and was proud to cheer on the Chicago White Sox.

Ultimately, Red was devoted to his family and was particularly enthusiastic about the love and lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Spending time with them brought a joy to his heart that could never be replaced.

Left to cherish his memory and the time they spent together is Red's wife of 59 years, Ellen; his three children: James A. (Karla) Shuemate of Wheatland, Barbara (Glenn) Madrigrano Sr. of Kenosha, and Tammy (Gerald) Konitzer Jr of Kenosha; his nine loving grandchildren: Glenn (Amanda) Madrigrano Jr, Mia (Chris) Hughes, Timothy (Jessica) Shuemate, Carolyn (Ryan) Bell, Diana and Thomas Shuemate, Abigail, Courtney and Hayley Konitzer; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Bertie Shuemate of Cameron, TX; and a sister, Violet Johnson, also of Cameron, TX.

Along with his parents, Red was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Konitzer; and four brothers: James, Donald, John, and Roger Shuemate.
