Velma Lee "Toot" Cole, 83, transitioned to her heavenly home on May 9, 2018, after an extended illness.

Velma was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Greenwood, Mississippi, to the Rev. George and Osha Hester.

She enjoyed church, cooking, and spend time with family and friends.

Velma survived by her sons, Johnny Earl(Ronda) Cole Sr., Lee Henry Cole Jr., and Tyson Cole; sister-in-law, Betty McGee; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Velma was preceded in death by husband, Lee Cole Sr.; sons, Melvin D. Cole and Lee Anthony Cole; granddaughter, Shonte Latrice Berryhill Cole; grandson, Antonio Cole; brother, Johnny Hester; and sisters, Thelma Staples and Georgia Mae Bryant.

Service will be officiated by Bishop Jerry Wright noon Monday at Church Upon The Rock, 303 E. 29th St., with burial in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon prior to service.
