Rubie Stewart, 75 year old Woodward resident died Saturday, March 20, 2021 in Woodward. Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Domnick Alipoon officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Rubie Mae Stewart was born to Arnold David and Eva Jane (Karns) Stewart on July 29, 1945 at 812 16th Street in Woodward with grandmother, Hannah Karns, and Dollie Dodd as midwives. She was the seventh child of nine, with three half siblings.
Rubie married her childhood sweetheart William Lee Taylor in January of 1960. To this union there three beautiful heaven-sent daughters, Hannah Darlene Taylor Mucker, Rachel Joann Taylor Nelson, and Rebecca Lee Taylor Bellows.
After nine years of married life she moved back home to care for dad until his health deteriorated and he was put in the Mooreland Nursing Home. A year later he passed away on June 2, 1974.
William and Rubie the bought a house at 609 11th Street I Woodward, where they lived for 34 years.
She attended Woodward schools and went back to school while taking care of her dad and graduated all while her own children were in school. She worked as a caregiver, convenient store clerk, and desk clerk at the Sleepy Hollow Motel to help provide for her children.
She was then married to Clayton Campbell February 25, 2000. In April 2000 she found her missing brother Jay Stewart living on the streets in Amarillo, Texas with the help of her grandson Michael Lyon. She brought him home and cared for him until 2013. Clayton and Rubie moved to a farm in Sharon, Oklahoma where she found joy and happiness.
She was baptized on September 9, 1966 and February 12, 2000 booth at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind always trying to keep the commitment and promises she made to Christ in leading her into the truth.
Rubie was preceded in death by her father, Arnold David Stewart, Mother, Eva Jane (Karns) Stewart, brothers, Norton Stewart, Riley Stewart, Bud Stewart, half-brother, Arnold David Stewart, Jr., brothers-in-law, Howard Waddle, and Dean Taylor, sisters, Marcella Waddle, and Mildred Beatrice Taylor, and great-granddaughter, Maddux.
