An 18-year-old man who killed his 10-week-old son when he shook the baby in frustration pleaded guilty this morning to second-degree murder.

Christopher Temple admitted in his plea that he had shaken Aiden Andrews and allowed the baby's head to hit the edge of a car seat while he was babysitting his son on Aug. 9, 2007.

"I take responsibility for this although I never meant to hurt him," Temple wrote in his plea deal with King County prosecutors.

He had been taking care of the infant while the child's mother was at work, according to King County prosecutors. According to charging documents, Temple told police he became frustrated and shook the baby when he was unable to console the crying child.

Aiden was taken to Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center in Seattle, where he died Aug. 13.

In exchange for Temple's guilty plea, prosecutors said they will be recommending a lower-than-standard sentence of nine years in prison because Temple has no previous criminal record and has accepted responsibility for his son's death.
