ERNEST "Ernie" LEROY WOOD; age 87,of Yuba City, passed away Friday, March 26th, 2021, at Rideout Hospital in Marysville. He was born June 26, 1933 in Norman, Oklahoma to Ernest and Mary (Harris) Wood.

Survived by his wife of 64 years, Keitha Wood of Yuba City, son Stephen L. Wood (Beth) of Anderson; daughter, Marci Morris (Melvin) of Yuba City; four grandsons Stephen C. Wood (Amy) of Marysville; Justin Wood (Sue) of Barstow; granddaughters Sarah Wood of Barstow, Audrey and Paige Wood of Marysville and two great grandsons; Stephen M. Wood of Barstow and Elijah Scott of Elk Grove. Two brothers, Kenneth "Ken" Wood (Georgia) of Yuba City and Gerald "Jerry" (Michelle) of Windsor. Many loved nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary Wood; grandson Joshua Morris; three sisters Alline Hoyer, Anna Faye Wood and Louella Wood; three brothers Sherman Wood, Vernon Wood and Mac Wood.

He graduated from Marysville High School and attended Yuba College before being drafted into the US Army where he served during Korean War. After his military service he worked for PT&T (Pacific Telephone & Telegraph) before working and retiring from Caltrans as District Traffic Engineer after 37 years. He attended Calvary Christian Center and was a member of Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

He lived his life with the highest of integrity. One would describe Ernest as kind, loving, loyal, tenderhearted, always wanted to help others and saw the good in everyone. God and his family were what was most important to him. He loved his family and enjoyed and treasured the big dinners with all the kids and grand kids. He also enjoyed and looked forward to the yearly "Wood Campouts" where he spent time with his family, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins which was quite a large group. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and backpacking. he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

His brother, Jerry, said "Leroy fit the mold of the oldest brother. As a role model, he was intelligent, tenacious, sensitive and a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He cared deeply about our family. He was a prayer warrior."

Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, April 9th, 2021 12-2 PM at Sierra View Mortuary, 4900 Olive Ave. Olivehurst. Internment at Sierra View Memorial Park. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association.
