Susan Jane "Susie" Herron, 91, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2021 at home in the care of Our Hospice.
Susie was born in Evansville, Indiana on January 12, 1930 to parents, Helen D and Charles "Ed" Shepherd. Her family moved to Columbus, Indiana in 1946.
In 1952, she married Marion William "Bill" Herron and they spent 63 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2016.
Susie was a long time member of First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 39 years. She worked for Bartholomew County School Corporation for several years and was a member of the PEO Sisterhood.
Susie is survived by her daughter, Jane Carson of Columbus, Indiana; her son, Brad (Annie) Herron of Lebanon, Indiana; her grandchildren, Courtney (Lance) Short of Franklin, Indiana, Casey (Jake) Herron Hockenbury of Avon, Indiana, Corey Herron, Rustin Edwards, and Robbie Edwards, all of Lebanon, Indiana; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; her brother, Charles Shepherd; her sister, Mary Elizabeth Shepherd; and her son-in-law, John Carson.
A Funeral Service for Susie will be held Monday, April 5, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel officiated by Rev. Howard Boles. Susie will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
