On September 5, 2020, Calvin Carter died peacefully at home in the presence of his wife.
Calvin was born March 22, 1945 in Delhi, Louisiana to the late John Carter, Sr. and Eliza May-Carter.

Calvin accepted Christ at an early age and united with New Fellowship Baptist Church in Delhi, Louisiana.

Calvin graduated from Ester Toombs High School. He joined the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. After four years in the Air Force, he received an honorable discharge. Calvin then attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he became an aircraft mechanic.

Calvin moved to Lafayette, Louisiana to work at Petroleum Helicopter, where he met and married the love of his life, Theresa Sias, to whom he was married to for 44 years. They later moved back to Delhi and Calvin worked in the aviation department for Chevron in New Orleans until his retirement.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, John Carter, Sr., and Eliza May-Carter; three brothers, Aaron Carter, John Carter, Jr., and Rufus Carter (Lorraine); three sisters, Willie Jean Russell, Dorothy Lewis, and Georgia Lue McClendon (Oscar).

Calvin leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Theresa Carter; his daughters, Christel Deeter (Corey) and Carmen Carter; one granddaughter, Cora Lyn Deeter; his siblings, Beulah Doves (Vonnie), Mary Walker (Nathaniel), Alma Giles (Neil), and Linda Watkins, all of Houston, Texas; and Doris Gray of Delhi, Louisiana; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
