Kenneth E. Hawk, age 85 of Kresgeville passed away, Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Brookmont Health Care Center in Effort.
Kenneth was the loving husband of the late Evelyn "Evie" R. (Young) Hawk who passed away August 4, 2014.
He was born at home in Kresgeville on November 4, 1935, son of the late Floyd W. and Cora A. (Shupp) Hawk.
Kenneth served our country with dedication and courage in the United States Navy. While serving our country he kept Alan Shepard flight records.
He worked as a Broker for Koehler Marvin Real Estate in Brodheadsville from 1974-1993 and then Prudential Real Estate in Sciota from 1993-2008. He was President of the Pocono Mountain Board of Realtors and was a member of the Board of Directors for 20 years. He also served on the State Association of Realtors for 15 years.
He also had worked as a supervisor at R & R Toy Factory in Pen Argyl from 1954-1976.
Kenneth was one of the founding members of the Polk Twp. Volunteer Fire company in Kresgeville, serving 9 years as President and 24 years as Treasurer. He was in charge of overseeing Bingo for 30 years and was also in charge of the rental hall. He dedicated his time supporting the Miller Blood Drive at the fire hall and was working on his personal donation of 7 gallons.
He was a former member of the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert.
Being an active member of our community he served on the Pleasant Valley School Board from 1967-1979 having held the position of President, Vice President and Treasurer. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Booster Club and served as treasurer.
We have been blessed with the presence of Kenneth in our lives. He will be deeply missed by his children: Douglas C. Hawk and his wife Cathy of Parryville, Brian J. Hawk and his wife Vicki of Coplay, Tammy T. Hawk-Held of Gilbert and Tracey L. Hawk-Andrews and her husband Clay of Towamensing Twp., PA.
He was the loving grandfather to his 9 grandchildren: Christopher, Victoria, Ariana, Andrew and Grayson Hawk, Madison and Riley Held, Hailey and Damen Andrews.
He is also survived by a brother: Clarence Hawk and his wife MaryLou of Kresgeville, and a sister in law: Shirley Hawk of Palmerton and manyl nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Evie, he was preceded in death by 2 sons: Troy K. Hawk and Bruce A. Hawk, and 6 siblings: Pauline George, Minerva Rehrig, Margaret George, Raymond Hawk, Gerald Hawk and Peggy Beers.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, April 3rd at Gower Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert.
Friends are welcome to offer condolences on Saturday, April 3rd from 9 am until time of service at the funeral home.
Kenneth will be laid to rest next to his loving wife at Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery in Palmerton.
