The 1900 Census showed that the family was in Davenport, IA living at 1028 E 14th st, w/ son Lee and niece Sadie Landingham

Oct 7, 1930 - Quad-City Times (Davenport, Iowa), reported "George and Marie were involved in a auto accident, in which Marie (his second wife) and he suffered serious injuries".

Oct 16, 1945 - The Daily Times (Davenport, Iowa), , Tue, Page 6 reported:
"Mr and Mrs George B. Rees of 1116 Harrison street, residents of Davenport for the last 40 years, and their daughter, Miss Faye Rees, will leave Wednesday to make their home in Los Angeles".

Notes:
1. Early Iowa state census records noted that George had served with the New York State National Guard [43rd Regiment - Infantry] during the 1870's.

His death certificate noted that he was a veteran of the Spanish American War era - 43rd SEPARATE COMPANY, was integrated as "Company I of the First Battalion, 3rd New York Volunteers of NY militia under Captain Richard H. Franchot. The company was mustered into U.S. service May 17, 1898 and was mustered out with regiment, December 8, 1898.

The company embarked with other local companies on May 1st, 1898, from their home stations via the Erie Railway, under charge of Brig.Gen'l E. M. Hoffman to Camp Black, Hempstead Plains, Long Island, N.Y. on May 24, the War Dept ordered them to move to Dunn Loring, VA. It appears most of the military service was as Provost Guard (Military Police) at various camps in Virginia {it doesn't appear they were ever deployed overseas}. [Source : History of the 3rd Regiment, New York Volunteers. (Chapter taken from New York and the War with Spain:History of the Empire State Regiments by the New York State Historian, 1903.)]

2. The Faye noted in the 1945 newspaper items posted above, was actually the youngest daughter of his second wife, Faye McKabney.

3. His death certificate mistakenly recorded his birth year as 1865.
